Halappa (39) is said to have ended his life at Doddakallu village in Yasalur police station limits of Sakleshpur taluk upon realising that he would not be able to clear the loans he had taken. The farmer had reportedly borrowed money from financial institutions and private moneylenders, reports reaching here said. Halappa is said to have committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree near his house. Our Hubli Special Correspondent reports: Four more cases of suicide by farmers have been reported from different districts of northern Karnataka and Uttara Kannada district taking the death toll in the region to 107. The names of those who ended their lives were given as Keriyappa Bangarappa Naique (50) of Gudnapur in Sirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada district, Basavaraj Hugar (32) of Turvihal in Sindhanur taluk of Raichur district, Hanumanthappa Chinnappa of Manikand village in Navalgund taluk of Dharwad district, and Chandrappa Basappa Kadaramandalagi of Sidenur village in Byadgi taluk of Haveri district.
