Agra tense after clash

Lucknow Oct. 13 . The situation in Agra district, where one person was charred to death and several others were injured in a clash between two groups today, was normal though tense, police said. Curfew was imposed in some parts of the district. The clash was over the reception accorded to the Samajwadi Party MLA, Chaudhary Bashir, who had defected from the Bahujan Samaj Party, and was recently inducted into the Mulayam Singh Cabinet.

Reports here said people from a particular community were annoyed over the defection of the MLA to the SP and had attacked his motorcade when he was going to attend a felicitation function at Kazi Para in Mantola. — UNI
