Mulayam hails Centre's assistance

LUCKNOW OCT. 14. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav, today commended the Centre for ``actively cooperating'' with his Government in its efforts to maintain peace in the State in the wake of the VHP's proposed mass rally in Ayodhya on October 17.

``The Centre is lending full cooperation to the State Government and has provided us with more than 100 companies of Central paramilitary forces to deal effectively with any eventuality,'' Mr. Yadav said here.

The Chief Minister said the apex court and the Allahabad High Court's orders for maintaining status quo at the acquired land in Ayodhya would be strictly implemented. — PTI
