Rain likely in Kerala

CHENNAI OCT. 14. Southwest monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall occurred at many places over Tamilnadu and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Kerala and South Interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Coastal Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Telangana and North Interior Karnataka.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in cms: Arupukottai 12, Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.), Peraiyur (Madurai dt.), Virudhunagar and Sulurpeta (Nellore dt.) 8 each and Alapuzha 7.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Hosur (Dharmapuri dt.) and Cherthala (Alapuzha dt.) 6 each, Jayamkondam (Perambalur dt.), Chennai Airport, Coimbatore airport, Tamaraipakkam, Kollangode (Palakkad dt.), Thiruvalla (Pathanamthitta dt.), Ammathy (Kodagu dt.) and Mysore 5 each, Tanjavur, Thammampatti (Salem dt.), Natham and Nilakottai (both Dindigul dt.), Munnar (Idukki dt.) and Malur (Kolar dt.) 4 each, Sulur and Udumalpet (both Coimbatore Airport), Madurai, Madurai Airport, Rapur (Nellore dt.) and Srirangapatna (Mandya dt.) 3 each, Ponneri (Thiruvallur dt.), Thiruvarur, Ilyangudi (Ramanathapuram dt.), Annur, Avinashi, Valparai and Mettupalayam (all Coimbatore dt.), 2 each and Thiruvaiyaru (Thanjavur dt.), Piravam (Ernakulam dt.), Punalur, Agathi Airport, Aminidivi and Madikeri 1 each.

FORECAST (Valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and at a few places over Kerala and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over Telangana and North Interior Karnataka.
