Bush rating up

By Sridhar Krishnaswami

Washington OCT. 14. In what is bound to be of some comfort to the White House, the latest poll has shown the approval rating of the President, George W. Bush, bouncing back a little. According to the CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll the rating is now at 56 per cent, higher than the mid-September levels of 50 per cent and 49 per cent.

The latest survey has also shown that 53 per cent of the registered voters said that Mr. Bush deserved a second term, while 45 per cent said he did not. But the survey also showed the 2004 election to be very closely contested at this time: 38 per cent said that they will vote for Mr. Bush; 38 per cent said they will not.
