Mulayam urged to allow VHP programme

LUCKNOW OCT. 14. The Uttar Pradesh unit of the BJP today urged the Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav, to allow the VHP to hold its "peaceful" Ram Darshan programme at Ayodhya on October 17.

The State BJP president, Vinay Katiyar, said that by banning the programme, the Government would indirectly help the VHP gain mileage in the Ayodhya movement.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said the tough measures against the `Ram bhakts' by the Samajwadi Party-led Government in the State would keep alive the issue. — UNI
