Road mishaps leave 10 dead

Jaipur Oct 16. As many as ten people were killed and 29 others injured in two different road accidents in Seekar and Bheelwada districts in Rajasthan, police said today.

In the first accident, five of a family died and nine other members were wounded when the jeep in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck near Sanwali Village in Seekar district early today, a report from Seekar said.

The deceased were identified as Ramniwas, Rakesh, Jagdish, a woman Salchi and teenaged girl Rukma while all the wounded were admitted at a hospital there. The District Administration has sanctioned from the Chief Minister's relief fund a financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to the kin of each of the dead, it said.

All were labourers belonging to Jodhpur district. The truck was seized. However, no arrest has been made so far.

Five people were killed and 20 others injured as a private bus in which they were travelling overturned near Jahajpur Town in Bheelwada district yesterday, another report said.

Of the injured, the condition of the two admitted at Tonk was stated to be serious whereas, rest were undergoing treatment at a hospital at Devali, it added. -- UNI
