The jatha was organised as a precursor to the seminar on "Farmers' suicide causes and solutions", scheduled to be held here on Sunday. The members of the jatha visited nearly 45 villages cycling across nearly 160 km. during the jatha. They distributed around 10,000 pamphlets analysing the causes behind the suicides by farmers and the Government's failure to come to their rescue. "We were given a warm and affectionate welcome in all the villages, even in very remote areas," the State convenor of the KVR, K.L. Ashok, who was among those who led the jatha, said. He said what was most satisfying was that they could effectively put the message across to the villagers. He said they held several impromptu public meetings at the villages. "Each of these meetings attracted not less than 150 people," he added.
