An assistant sub-inspector has already been suspended. The Additional Chief Secretary has been directed to submit his report within one week, even as the German Ambassador in Delhi has demanded a probe into the incident. The Director General of Police has also ordered an inquiry to be headed by S.N. Achumi, DIG, the sources said, adding the DGP had given specific instructions to interrogate the officials allegedly present when the incident occurred. Sources said the German national and his wife were earlier brought before the police. They were subsequently ordered to be deported after it was found that they did not have valid documents. But the ASI failed to follow the instructions and contacted the Deputy Commissioner in Dimapur who instructed the former to allow the couple to stay for the night and make sure that they left the next morning. The ASI had allegedly failed to inform the Deputy Commissioner and the other officers that the couple had come in their own vehicle. UNI
