Sir MV's vision remembered

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore Oct. 18. The foundation laid by Sir M. Visvesvaraya has stood in good stead for Karnataka and it has continued on the path of prosperity, though its ranking has come down from third to seventh, the economist and educationist, D.M. Nanjundappa, has said. Participating in a public interaction programme organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture here today, Dr. Nanjundappa, former Vice-Chairman of the State Planning Board and former Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore University, said it was the vision, zeal and sincerity of Visvesvaraya that added to his stature of a great statesman. To promote agriculture, he gave importance to irrigation, and to boost industry, he focussed on power. Recalling the fruitful years in State administration, he said that between 1970 and 1980, the efforts made by the Government in land reforms, industrial activity, irrigation etc. were noteworthy.
