Sale of tablets, suture banned

Bangalore Oct. 18. The Government Analyst, Central Indian Pharmacopoeia Laboratory, Ghaziabad, and the Drugs Testing Laboratory, Baroda, have found one drug and one surgical suture to be not of standard quality and banned their sale. The two items are: Atenol tablets IP 100 mg., batch no: 030040 made by Karnataka Antibiotic and Pharmaceuticals Ltd/, Bangalore, and non-absorbable surgical suture U.S.P, batch no. B2693, manufactured by Sutures India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. Chemists, wholesalers, doctors, hospitals and nursing homes have been warned not to use them. If they have any stocks, they have to inform the area Drugs Inspector or Assistant Drugs Controller. Any patient who has them has been warned not to use them.
