Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Special Correspondent
In separate statements here today, Mr. Bhargavan and Mr. Chandrachoodan accused the Government of having adopted an undemocratic position on the issue. While the CPI leader said there was every justification for convening an urgent session of the House given the charge that Mr. Purushothaman had flouted the great tradition of neutrality of the Speaker's office, the RSP leader said the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, M.M. Hassan's statement on the issue was borne out of the fear that the Government would be defeated on the floor of the House. Mr. Bhargavan said Mr. Hassan's statement that the House could be convened only when the Government had business to transact showed his `ignorance' about the legislature and parliamentary democracy.
