The Commission member, P. Kulsu, today sent a police team to rescue the woman following a complaint that the woman's brother had been keeping her chained without providing her food. The Commission chairperson, M. Kamalam, who held a sitting here, said that most of the complaints received today was deep-rooted in family problems. Ms. Kamalam said it was deplorable that certain persons were trying to misuse avenues like the State Women's Commission. She was referring to one complaint that was forged in the name of one woman from Vadakara stating that she was being harassed by husband's relatives. It forced the two families the woman's family and her husband's to appear before the Commission for a non-existent complaint. A total of 52 cases came before the Commission today.
