As many as 7,658 persons have been selected to undertake the pilgrimage organised by the State Haj Committee. The embarkation point of the pilgrims from Kerala and Lakshadweep would be the Karippur airport. Nineteen flights carrying the pilgrims would operate from the airport till January 11. The return flights would be from February 5 to February 23, the State Haj Committee chairman, K.Alikutty Musaliar, and the secretary, T.O.Sooraj, who is also the Kozhikode district Collector, told reporters here today. Arrangements were being made to set up a Haj camp at the Kumminiparambu E.M.E.A. College near the Karippur airport. The pilgrims should reach the camp a day prior to their date of air travel and before 3 p.m. to receive the travel documents from the officials. The Haj subsidy would not be given for income tax payers and those going for the pilgrimage the second time. Those who had paid an advance amount of Rs 10,000 along with their applications should pay the remaining amount: Rs. 59,996 (category-I), Rs. 55,698 (category-II), Rs. 52,014 (category-III), Rs. 29, 910 (category-IV those pilgrims planning to stay at their relatives' place at Mecca and Medina) and Rs. 33,594 (category-V those pilgrims planning to stay at their relatives' place at Mecca). Pilgrims getting subsidy should pay Rs. 12,000.
