Kongu reigns supreme

Perundurai Oct. 18. Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai added another feather to its cap winning the title in the Anna University inter-zone volleyball tournament for men at the KEC courts here on Friday.

In the semifinals, the host began in shaky fashion, but managed to pull off a thrilling 30-32, 25-15, 26-24, 22-25, 25-13 win over St. Peter's Engineering College, Chennai. In the other semifinal, Adhiyaman College of Engineering, Hosur, easily defeated Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai, 3-0.

The final was an easy affair for the host. It brushed aside the challenge of Adhiyaman College of Engineering 25-6, 25-10, 25-14. Coimbatore region coasted to a comfortable 3-0 win over Salem region to finish atop Pool B. However, against Kongu Engineering College they lost 25-14, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16.
