Mass prayers held

Ahmedabad Oct.19. With the beatification of Mother Teresa today, churches across Gujarat saw a flurry of activity including mass prayers and the Christian community members vowed to ``follow in her footsteps''. ``We are filled with great pride and happiness that Mother Teresa is on her way to sainthood. The whole (Christian) community is rejoicing today'', said Father Moses of the Saint Xavier's Social Service Centre.

Prayer services, masses and processions were held in various parts of Maharashtra as scores of Christians across the State joined the world in celebrating Mother Teresa's beatification.Sisters from Missionaries of Charity organised meals for the poor at their mission houses.

Mass prayers were held and statues of the Mother were unveiled all over Bihar. The Mother had spent four months in 1948 in Patna before setting out for Kolkata. She has imparted training in nursing at the Holy Family Hospital in Patna and during that period, she had stayed in a room at Padri Ki Haveli. — PTI, UNI
