Xaxa nets five including a hat-trick

NEW DELHI OCT. 20. Rohit Xaxa scored five goals including a hat-trick in guiding Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Jashpur Nagar, to a 10-0 victory over Governemnt Inter College, Narender Nagar, in a preliminary league match of the Oriental Bank 32nd Nehru junior hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Monday.

Sushil Tigga (2), Kashmir Kujur, Medard Kujur and Efecius Toppo scored the other goals for the winner, which led 4-0 at halftime.

In another match, G. V. Raja Sports School, Thiruvananthapuram, beat Baruipur High School, Baruipur, 4-2 after the teams had locked 1-1 at halftime. M. Shamsudeen (3) and Jeeson Joseph scored for the Kerala team. Sarique Islam scored both the goals for the Bengal team.

T. M. Convent High School, Bhopal defeated St. Xavier's Senior Secondary School, Muzaffarpur, 4-0. Mohammed Taj Khan (2), Azam Baig and Javed Khan scored for the Bhopal team.

DAV Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh, defeated Government Senior Secondary School, Jharsa, 4-3 via the tie-break after being goalless at the end of the regulation period. Jagdeep Singh, Sarwan Singh, Gursewak Singh and Daljit Singh converted for the Chandigarh team. Kuldeep, Jai Bhagwan, Virender and Somvir succeeded for Jharsa team.
