Madhya Pradesh
By Our Staff Correspondent
The committee had met here earlier on October 12 but its deliberations had been called off abruptly as many members felt that there was no point carrying forward the discussions without receiving a comprehensive feedback from different wings of the party as well as the survey reports from all over the State. Some members were also of the firm view that the committee needed a more broad-based character and should meet only after the October 19 Mahila Shakti Sangam (women's rally) in the State capital. The election committee originally comprised the State BJP chief, Kailash Joshi, BJP's star campaigner, Uma Bharti, national general secretary of the party, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Union Ministers, Vikram Verma, Satyanarayan Jatia, Sumitra Mahajan, Phaggan Singh Kulaste, Prahlad Patel and senior party leaders, Sunderlal Patwa, Laxminarayan Pandey, Babulal Gaur, Krishna Murari Moghe, Kaptan Singh Solanki, Ram Krishna Kusmaria and Chandramani Tripathi. Three more BJP leaders, Ravinandan Singh, Jaishree Banerjee and Shitla Sahai were specially invited to attend the election committee meeting, which resumed here today. Mr. Kailash Joshi and Mr. Uma Bharti also launched a special State BJP website (www.mpbhajpa.org) , which projects the party's history, philosophy and the achievements of the Atal Behari Vajpayee Government at the Centre. It also contains the charge-sheet against the State Congress Government. The State BJP spokesman, Kailash Vijayvargiya, told The Hindu that the new website amply reflects their party's IT savvy image. It would help in disseminating information and also carrying forward the party's election campaign, he added.
