Letters to the Editor
Sir, Prime Minister Vajpayee's demand that Pakistan vacate occupied Kashmir (Oct. 19) is too little, too late. India has wasted time attempting to resolve the Kashmir issue through talks. It should make it clear that talks are possible only when Pakistan agrees to talk about returning PoK. And it should be consistent about the demand.
Siddhartha S. Misra,
* * * Sir, Some in India advocate the bombing and destruction of terrorist training camps in Pakistan. They argue that if Israel can do it, why can we not. Israel's is a jingoistic military machine, it is 10 times stronger than its Arab neighbours; all Israelis undergo compulsory military training and, most important of all, Israel has the support of the superpower.
