Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the Congress MP, Mani Shanker Aiyar's comment on the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's gesture of donating an elephant to the Guruvayur temple. It was crude and gender-discriminatory. What is worse, he was not apologetic even when a reference was made to it. Congress leaders are up in arms if some film characters are named after the Nehru family or some salacious film songs contain such names. But some of them slander and abuse other women politicians and leaders. I wonder why the Congress president, also a woman, does not rein in such partymen.
Kousiki Sridharan,
