Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Staff Reporter
The Vice-Chancellor, M.S. Thimmappa told presspersons here today that Mr. Shivanna was not qualified for the post, and had committed many misdemeanours during his tenure as acting Director. Mr. Shivanna had no Ph. D and did not meet any of the norms for the post. He did not submit accounts for funds sanctioned for various activities. Recently, he got funds sanctioned to a sports event in undue haste, Dr. Thimmappa said. Dr. Thimmappa said the idea to bring Bangalore University's 300 colleges in the urban district under a central university would be advantageous. If the University Grants Commission (UGC) came up with such an offer, the university would apply. Central universities were under the UGC and received 100 per cent grants from it. Another interesting development was the plan to turn the functioning of the university library into a project for M. Lib students. Stock verification had not been done for five years due to the shortage of staff, he added.
