Panel for debt revamp of textile mills

COIMBATORE: The Union Ministry of Textiles has constituted an implementation committee under the chairmanship of the Secretary (Textiles) to ensure "smooth implementation" of the package for restructuring high cost of debts of textile units, according to industry sources here.

They said the committee would monitor the progress of the package and also examine various issues brought before it. The Ministry had also said that in order to assess the financial viability and the debt-restructuring package, banks/financial institutions and the units could appoint consulting organisations "as per their own assessment and decision". — Our Staff Reporter
