Tax imposed on captive power

BANGALORE Oct. 21. Despite strong protests from the chambers of commerce here, the Government has gone ahead with its Ordinance imposing 50 paise per unit tax on power from the captive power plants/generator sets.

The Ordinance, effective from October 16, means all generator owners must immediately "furnish meter readings from that date" to the Chief Electrical Inspector to the Government or the jurisdictional Deputy Chief Electrical Inspectors.
