Lightning claims three lives

HYDERABAD OCT. 21. Three labourers of a stone-crushing industry were killed after thunderbolt struck them on Monday evening at Rawalkole village under Medchal Police Station area. While two of them, Poddu (26) and D. Narsimha (18), died on the spot, Varikoppula Srishailam (40), succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Shapurnagr a few hours later.

Employed by Sri Sammakka Sarakka stone crushing unit, the victims were working in the hills. They ran for shelter and stood behind some rocks when it started raining heavily in the evening.

The thunderbolt hit them around 4.45 p.m. Both Narsimha and Srishailam were residents of Borabanda in Hyderabad. Poddu was a native of Madhya Pradesh and came to the city for livelihood.
