Special buses to Games venues

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD OCT. 21. The city region of the APSRTC is gearing up to provide `quality service' to people interested in watching the Afro-Asian Games at the four venues. Between October 24 and November 1, it will press into service 125 special buses for the convenience of games enthusiasts.

The Regional Manager, C. Panduranga Murthy, said 100 special buses would be pressed into service exclusively for the inaugural and closing ceremonies. The RTC had asked 100 of its employees to be volunteers for the Games at various points in order to help the public with information.

The special buses for the inaugural and closing ceremonies will be parked at designated locations as per the advice of the Commissioner of Police, R.P. Singh.

While those for the general public will be parked at the Infosys Playground, the buses earmarked for transport of schoolchildren and other representatives of the various committees will be stationed at the football ground in the Central University campus.

Mr. Murthy said special passes for Rs. 150 would be made available, for use in all services including Veera, to and from any location between October 24 and November 1 at all authorised ticket booking counters and Mahatma Gandhi and Jubilee Bus Stations.

For volunteers, the pass for Rs. 250 would be valid until November 3, for travel to and fro the four venues - Gachibowli, LB Stadium, Gosha Mahal and Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy stadium in Yousufguda.

Also a single-day pass, `Travel As You Like' would be made available at Rs. 28 and Rs. 14 for adults and children respectively, in ordinary buses and Rs. 40 and Rs. 20 for adults and children respectively, in Metroliners.
