Law unto itself

Sir, — This refers to the news item "VHP rules out any compromise on Ram temple (Oct. 22)." If the VHP and other Sangh outfits have no respect for the law of the land and are immune to the sensitivities of others, they should start constructing the temple wherever they want and face the consequences, instead of engaging in mindless agitation, which only disrupts normal life. It is an open secret that the VHP is neither interested in a negotiated solution nor does it have faith in the judicial system of the country.

Kanwar Pal Singh Chauhan,
Chandigarh

Sir, — It is unfortunate that communal forces continue to cling to the most vexed issue, unmindful of the country's fate. Communalism is more dangerous than terrorism.

E. Udaya Kumar,
Anantapur, A.P.
