Helmet rule to be reintroduced

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore Oct. 22. The Government has decided to reintroduce the helmet rule for riders of two-wheelers following the recent judgment of the Karnataka High Court in this regard, and is awaiting a copy of the judgment of the court, the Home Minister, M. Mallikarjun Kharge, has said.

Presspersons sought his reaction to the judgment of a Division Bench of the court in this connection here today, and Mr. Kharge said he would ask the Advocate-General to provide a copy of the judgment. Mr. Kharge said the Government would, meanwhile, get a report on the number of fatal incidents involving two-wheelers whose riders were not wearing helmets, to arrive at a decision.
