CHENNAI OCT. 22. Northeast monsoon has been vigorous over Rayalaseema and active over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Rayalaseema, coastal and south interior Karnataka, at many places over Telangana, north interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and at a few places over Lakshadweep.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in cm.: Poondi (Thiruvallur dt.) and Palamaner (Chittoor dt.) 12 each, Porumanilla (Cuddapah dt.) and Gudiyattam (Vellore dt.) 11 each, Tambaram, Melalathur (Vellore dt.) and Visakhapatnam 10 each, Visakhapatnam Airport, Kavali, Badvel (Cuddapah dt.), Kasargod and 8 each and Kakinada, Kadiri (Ananthapur dt.) and Ibrahimpatnam (Renga Reddy dt.) 7 each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Chennai Airport, Lingadahalli (Chikmagalur dt.), Gudibande (Kolar dt.), Pavagada (Tumkur dt.), Proddatur (Cuddapah dt.), Venkatagiri Kota (Chittoor dt.) and Hyderabad 6 each, , Mysore, Repali (Guntur dt.) and Podili 5 each, Tuni, Ongole, Kandukur (Prakasam dt.), Punganur (Chittur dt.) and Alathur (Palakkad dt.) 4 each,

FORECAST (Valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, at many places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, Telangana and north coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over Lakshadweep.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry during next 48 hours.
