5 militants killed

GUWAHATI OCT. 22. The Army shot dead five National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants and recovered a huge amount of explosives in Assam today. After specific information, troops confronted a group of militants near the Barnadi reserve forest of Darrang district. In the resulting encounter, four NDFB militants were shot dead. while one AK-56 rifle with magazine, 19 live rounds, two nine mm revolvers with three live rounds, two Chinese grenades and five fired cases of AK-47 rifle were recovered. In another incident, the troops deployed in neighbouring Bongaigaon district had an encounter with another group of NDFB men at Balamgiri area in which one militant was killed. — PTI
