The family of one of the prime accused in the Marad massacre case, Mohammed Ali, was among the last group of 14 families brought back to their homes in Marad on Friday. Though their presence triggered protest among the fisherwomen who lost their dear ones in the carnage, wiser counsel prevailed and their objections were quickly quietened. The completion of the resettlement programme came as the happy culmination of days of sweat and toil by a dedicated team of Gandhian volunteers and scores of Government officials posted for duty in the relief camps where the displaced families were sheltered after they fled from their homes fearing retaliatory attacks after the May 2 incident.
