Professor's suspension resented

By Our Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH OCT. 25. The suspension of a professor of Maharshi Dayanand University at Rohtak, Himmat Singh Ratnoo, has evoked widespread resentment among the teaching community in Haryana and several political parties and teachers' organisations have condemned the action. Himmat Singh Ratnoo, secretary of the MDU Teachers' Association, has been expelled from the Academic Council of the university.

The CPI(M) State secretary, Inderjit Singh, the CPI State Council secretary, Raghubir Chaudhary, and the Lok Janshakti president, Shamsher Malik, have expressed grave concern over deterioration in the situation due to the "authoritarian functioning of the Vice-Chancellor disregarding the laid down Acts and statutes of the University.''
