30 children injured in cracker mishaps

Pondicherry Oct. 25. Thirty children from various parts of Pondicherry were treated at the Government General Hospital here for injuries caused by crackers.

A roof of a government girls high school in the heart of the town was gutted on Friday. Fire fighting units prevented the spread of the flames. Although the cause of fire could not be known immediately, it was suspected that a rocket-type cracker might have fallen on the roof.

At Dhobikhana area of Ariyankuppam a roof of a house was damaged after a rocket cracker fell on it. Similarly, at Bahourkuppam crackers fell on a thatched roof put up on the terrace of a building.
