Violence in Pondy cinema

Pondicherry Oct. 25. At least 200 seats were damaged and ceiling fans twisted out of shape in a cinema house on Anna Salai here when a section of viewers turned violent yesterday. The screen was also damaged.

However, the trouble-makers took to their heels as the police arrived.Sources said that even as the management obliged to a section, replaying a particular scene of a Deepavali release, the crowd started breaking the chairs and also tore part of the screen. Crackers were burst and bottles broken inside the theatre.
