By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI OCT. 25. A group of youth today gheraoed a doctor of the Muvattupuzha Government taluk headquarters hospital alleging that he had demanded bribes from patients. The youth allegedly forced him to wear a garland of chappals.

According to the Muvattupuzha police, the incident took place in the compound of the hospital at 1 p.m.

The police reached the spot and dispersed the crowd. According to the police, no complaint of bribery had been received against the doctor. A case has been registered against the youth involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, an AIYF activist, Harris, who reportedly took part in the agitation, said that the AIYF and AISF had warned the doctor several times against taking bribes and had even pasted posters at various places in this regard before taking the extreme step. A people's trial was also conducted on the spot, he said.
