Kerala
By Our Staff Reporter
There have also been reports that the IFDP had sought the support of the Malankara Orthodox Church and that certain quarters had already promised their support for its candidate in Thiruvalla. The Indian Federal Democratic Party also hopes to secure the `silent' support of certain `aggrieved quarters' within the Kerala Congress(M) who had been left `dejected' in the race for the party ticket in Thiruvalla, sources pointed out. When contacted, the IFDP district president, Roy Chandappailla, said that the party leader and the Union Minister of State for Law, P.C. Thomas, would announce the party's stand in the Thiruvalla by-election. However, he said that the IFDP would use every possible opportunity to defeat the Kerala Congress(M) candidate in Thiruvalla. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sources said that the party would announce its candidate for the Thiruvalla by-election at its meeting on November 2.
