PM's initiative will weaken country: Swamy

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI OCT. 25. The Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy, said today the Prime Minister, Atal BihariVajpayee's initiative on Kashmir would "weaken the country."

He said this was "undertaken on U.S. pressure and not because of any well-thought out strategy to bring peace to Kashmir."

In a press release, he said the initiative would create "uncertainty about India's commitment to the finality of Kashmir's merger with India."
