Karnataka-Bangalore
By Our Staff Reporter
A 4-D ultrasound scanner has been acquired to improve diagnostic accuracy. According to the CMH, this facility is probably the best of its kind in Bangalore. CMH has also expanded its intensive care unit (ICU) to carry 10 extra beds. The ICU also has facilities for ventilation and haemodialysis. By increasing the ICU's capacity, the CMH hopes to prevent critically ill patients having to move between hospitals in search of beds. In addition, the CMH can now offer complete kidney care with the addition of urological services. Six dialysis machines have been purchased for the nephro-urology centre which will be managed by the N-U Trust. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Governor, T.N. Chaturvedi, said: "All of this equipment will enhance the patient's confidence in doctors". The Chinmaya Mission was started in the early 1950s by Swami Chinmayananda. The CMH, the practical arm of the mission, began as an outpatient dispensary in 1969 influenced by Swami Chinmayananda's ideas on service to humanity. Today, the CMH is a multi-speciality centre.
