Feast of St. Gregorios begins

PATHANAMTHITTA Oct. 26. The week-long celebrations of the 101st feast of St. Gregorios of Parumala began with the auspicious Kodiyettu ceremony at the Parumala St. Paul's and St Peter's Church near Thiruvalla this afternoon.

The Metropolitan of the Niranam diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church, Geevarghese Mar Osthathios, hoisted the sacred church flag at the church premises. Hundreds of believers attended the ceremony held at 2 p.m. Mar Osthathios had celebrated a holy Eucharist at the church earlier at 8-30 a.m.

The Metropolitan will also inaugurate the annual pilgrim week celebrations at Parumala tomorrow morning.

The pilgrimage to the Saint's tomb will be held from November 1 to 3. The Catholicos of the East, Baselius Mar Thoma Mathews-II and other Metropolitans of the Church will receive the processions to the Saint's tomb coming from different parts of the State. The Saint's feast will be celebrated on November 3.
