By Our Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM OCT. 26. The condition of the former Chief Minister, E. K. Nayanar, who suffered a mild reinfarction in the wee hours of Sunday, is stable, according to the Kottayam Medical College authorities.

According to the Medical College principal, P. Chandra Mohan, Mr. Nayanar was brought to the hospital by 2 a.m. with left ventricular failure.

He responded to the treatment and the ECG, which had shown mild changes, had now reversed. He would have to remain in the ICCU for at least 48 hours, the doctor said.

Mr. Nayanar, along with his wife had come to Kottayam to attend a marriage and to participate in a party function.

According to the CPI(M) office, he had arrived at the Government Guest House, Nattakom, by Saturday evening. He complained of breathing trouble around 1 a.m. and was rushed to the Kottayam Medical College hospital.
