The bomb, planted in the toilet of the bogie next to the engine, went off around 10 p.m., almost an hour after the train left the Jammu Tawi station, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Farooq Ahmad told PTI late tonight from the blast site. Earlier, the Jammu Station Superintendent, Mulkraj Sharma, and Devendra Sandhu, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railway, said the blast had taken place between the Sambha and Gagwal stations on the rail track. Mr. Sandhu said all passengers were safe.
Highway blast
In Srinagar, 15 civilians were injured when militants detonated a powerful improvised explosive device on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway at Bijbehara today, official sources said. The militants triggered the IED when a military convoy, on way to Jammu, reached the main chowk at Bijbehara in Anantnag district. It was a narrow escape for the soldiers as the explosion occurred seconds after the last vehicle crossed the spot. Fifteen civilians were injured. The condition of some of them is stated to be critical.
Dy. Speaker's aide killed
A key aide of the Assembly Deputy Speaker and eight militants were among 11 persons killed and 23 wounded in separate incidents since Saturday evening in the State. Militants gunned down the Deputy Speaker's public relations officer, Mohd Asadullah Dar, after barging into his house at Kreeri Pattan in Baramulla district tonight, officials said. PTI, UNI
