Spurt in CPCL's Q2 profit

Chennai Petroleum Corporation has more than doubled its net profit in the second quarter ended September 30, 2003 to Rs. 46.58 crores from Rs. 20.11 crores in the corresponding period in the previous year.

Net sales were higher at Rs. 2,054.20 crores against Rs. 1,806 crores. For the half year ended September 30, the net profit was higher at Rs. 74.34 crores against Rs. 45.17 crores in the same period in the previous year. Net sales have risen to Rs. 4.199.64 crores from Rs. 3,789.42 crores.
