Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad

Marjorie Godfrey, a well-known figure in Anglo-Indian community, was admitted in a city-based hospital after she developed respiratory problems. She suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday morning. (Godfrey's daughter, Della Godfrey, is a nominated MLA in the State Assembly). The Andhra Pradesh Council of Churches condoled the death of the former MP and said it had lost a leader of principles. Marjorie Godfrey belonged to one of the first batches of women political leaders and was known for her forthright approach to issues. She spent a major part of her life in public service and made a name for herself in the Anglo-Indian community, the Church and politics, the council stated in a press release. The Catholic Association of Hyderabad, of which she was the founder, condoled her death and said it was a great loss to the community. Ms. Della Godfrey, stated in a press release that the funeral would take place on Thursday morning.
