One lakh tonnes of rice for A.P.

By Our Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI Oct. 28. The Ministry of Rural Development has approved the release of one lakh tonnes of rice to Andhra Pradesh under the special component of the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY), to be utilised for the creation of additional wage employment in 305 drought-affected mandals of 22 districts.

The special component is meant for augmenting food security through additional wage employment in calamity-affected rural areas.

Ten per cent of the foodgrains allocated under the SGRY are earmarked for the special component, which is about five lakh tonnes.
