Spurt in Ashok Leyland's H1 profit

The net profit of Ashok Leyland has spurted to Rs. 68.27 crores in the half year ended September 30, 2003 from Rs. 30.58 crores in the same period in the previous year. The jump in the second quarter profit to Rs. 53.46 crores (Rs. 20.84 crores) has in turn boosted profitability in the first half year.

Sales turnover for the half year went up by 20.4 per cent to Rs. 1,646.65 crores from Rs. 1,367.93 crores. Other income amounted Rs. 11.12 crores (Rs. 7.23 crores).
