Shatrughan hopes to act again

Mangalore Oct 28. It is not yet over for Shatrughan Sinha in the tinsel world though he is now part of the NDA Government at the Centre. He is hopeful that the time will come when he will once again stand before the camera.

In an exclusive chat with The Hindu during his one-day sojourn in Mangalore, Mr. Sinha smiled when asked if he would get back to acting. He agreed that he still had that rustic charm that had smitten many a young heart before he gave up films for politics.

Mr. Sinha, who is now the Minister for Shipping, still stands tall and looks fit to don the role of a hero or a villain. "I have withdrawn from films, though not completely, and turned over a new leaf in my life. My wife and children like me in role of a `neta', but some time later I shall look for a role that will give me the satisfaction of delivering a message to society."

But nobody can deny that Mr. Sinha is still a ladies' man. At the party the New Mangalore Port Trust held in his honour here, Mr. Sinha was forced to pose for a group photo with women amid loud giggling.

Speaking about his two decades as an actor, Mr. Sinha said he was happy with the roles he had played, right from Milap (1975).

Mr. Sinha said his visit to Mangalore for electioneering way back in 1995 was a memorable event. He said he had a special place in his heart for the film artistes from Dakshina Kannada, adding that Sunil Shetty was one of his favourites.
