Tata Motors has reported a spurt in its net profit at Rs. 206.68 crores in the second quarter ended September 30, 2003 against Rs. 58.80 crores in the same quarter in 2002-03. Net revenues rose by 47.1 per cent to Rs. 3,176.60 crores from Rs. 2,159.16 crores. For the first six months, the net profit zoomed to Rs. 306.9 crores from Rs. 86.83 crores in the first half of last fiscal while revenues stood at Rs. 5,677.63 crores against Rs. 3,906.89 crores. Commercial vehicle sales in the first half of 2003-04 were 64,131 units against 44,920 units and passenger vehicle sales at 66,973 units against 46,525 units last fiscal, says a release. The utility vehicle sales also grew to 13,854 units from 11,520 units in the first half of last year. Export volumes at 7,417 units grew by 67.5 per cent over the corresponding period last year (4,429 units). Indigo registered sales of 13,238 units in first six months and remained at the top of this segment with a market share of 27 per cent, the release added.
