Rain likely over Karnataka, A.P.

CHENNAI OCT. 29. The deep depression over West Central Bay moved Northwestwards and weakened into a depression and crossed North Andhra Coast near Visakhapatnam yesterday evening and rapidly weakened.

Rainfall occurred at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema and dry weather prevailed over Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

Dummagudem (Khammam dt.) recorded a heavy rainfall of 12 cm.

THE CHIEF AMOUNTS OF RAINFALL RECORDED IN CMS ARE: Alathur (Palakkad dt.) 5, Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.), Pollachi (Coimbatore dt.), Kodaikaknal and Chitthur (Palakkad dt.) 3 each, Visakhapatnam, Narsipatnam and Anakapallee (both Visakhapatnam dt.), Tuni, Nandigama, Bapatla, Hanamkonda, Hyderabad Airport, Valparai, Devikulam (Idukki dt.) and Aryankavu (Kollam dt.) 2 each and Kalingapattinam, Visakhapatnam Airport, Peddapuram (East Godavari dt.), Tanuku and Dowlaishwaram (both West Godavari dt.), Paleru Bridge and Prakasam Barriage (both Krishna dt.), Satenapalli (Guntur dt.), Guntur, Eturnagaram (Warangal dt.), Madhira (Khammam dt.), Eraniel and Thuckalay (both Kanyakumari dt), Ottapalem (Palakkad dt.) and Punalur 1 each.

Belgaum airport recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 16 degrees Celsius in the plains of the region.

FORECAST (Valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Telangana.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Lakshadweep.
