Farmer commits suicide in Haveri

HAVERI Oct. 29. A 55-year-old farmer, Channabasayaya Hiremath of Maranbid village in Hangal taluk of Haveri district, reportedly committed suicide on Tuesday by consuming pesticide.

It is learnt that Hiremath had four acres of land on which he tried to grow maize and cotton. However, the crops withered because of lack of rainfall. He had reportedly taken a loan of Rs. 45,000 from the local agricultural society.
