Cabinet clears 20 pending land allotment proposals

Hyderabad Oct. 29. The Cabinet, through its marathon sitting here today, cleared a record number of 20 long-pending land alienation proposals with the notable beneficiaries among public figures being Pullela Gopichand and V. Ravikanta Reddy, badminton and volleyball players of international repute.

As per these alienations, Mr Gopichand has been allotted five acres in Serilingampalli area on nominal rent for development of a badminton academy as proposed by him and Mr Reddy a 525- sq yard house site at Barani layout, Shaikhpet free of cost. Among the Government institutions, which gained out of the decisions was Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University for which 100 acres was cleared at Bachupalli in Ranga Reddy district for campus construction, Swamy Ramananda Tirtha Institute of Social Research, a 30-acre allotment at Tokatta in the same district for raising medicinal plants, Prajapitha Brahma Kumaris, 500 sq yards at Mahabubabad in Warangal district free of cost and Viswa Vignana Vidya Atyatmika Peetham, one acre free of cost at Tuni.

Clearance was given for regularising the encroachments on 329.75 acres of government land at Kothagudem benefiting 5,448 individuals, and on 2.85 acres at S. Kota in Vizianagaram district benefiting a few others, and the conversion scheme from leasehold to freehold land extended up to December 31 next in case of occupations in Secunderabad.

Other major beneficiaries included Indian Barytes Chemicals Limited for which 150 acres at Anantarajulu village in Cuddapah district was approved.
