Charles gets a picture of Kalam's 'Vision 2020'

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI OCT. 29. At a meeting that overshot the time limit and the stiffness imposed by protocol, Prince Charles was given a broad outline of the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam's ``Vision 2020'' when he called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

After exchanging pleasantries and discussing various welfare projects being undertaken in India and the U.K., the two took a walk in the Mughal Gardens.

Mr. Kalam dwelt on ``Vision 2020'' and explained that one of its components `providing urban amenities in rural areas' (PURA) was critical to achieving his vision.

The President also told the Prince about the rapid strides made by India in information technology and other hi-tech areas.
